Doing My Work of Joy
For years, I thought my paintings were about places. Then one day, while hanging an exhibition, I realised I wasn’t just looking at my artwork. I was looking at my life. The places I’d explored. The adventures I’d had. The moments I’d stopped to notice. And I remember thinking:
How wonderful it is to create a life worth painting.

That idea sits at the heart of my work today. I explore. I notice. I paint. I share.
I seek out places of joy, capturing their colour and atmosphere, and collecting the stories that make them meaningful. Because the moments worth painting are all around us.
We simply have to notice them.

Latest Place of Joy – Stratford-upon-Avon
A place steeped in stories, Stratford-upon-Avon has long been somewhere people come to wander, explore and make memories.
For my latest painting, I’ve brought together some of the things that make Stratford feel like Stratford to me — the river, the theatre, the church, boats and paddlers, people out walking, and the big wheel turning above it all.
